The cafes in Koramangala are on a roll once again. Having covered a few in our last post - The American Cafes of Koramangala, we are yet to explore a majority of the cafes which are quite huge in number and span the entire Koramangala area. These cafes, like the others, specialize in a variety of american and continental breakfast options and serve them throughout the day. With an assortment of sausages, garlic bread and veggies decorated on the plate, it is quite hard to say no to these dishes.
154 Breakfast Club
A small joint in Koramangala 3rd block with a simple look, it has a good range of breakfast options and sandwiches and juices. Our choices here are the Non Veg Big Breakfast and the 154 All-Meat Sandwich.
The Non-Veg Big Breakfast is a large platter with sausages, bacon, eggs made to order (we opted for the Sunny Side Up), baked beans and grilled potatoes apart from the usual toast and butter. The breakfast platter is quite heavy and is an excellent choice for brunch. The premium quality of sausages and bacon along with other fresh ingredients make it a must try here.
The All meat sandwich had a combination of different meats- chicken, lamb and pork. These are served with assorted vegetables and finger chips. The sandwich is again sumptuous but a different dip rather than the usual tomato sauce would have made the dish, even more, enticing.
Cafe Thulp
Cafe Thulp as a brand has its outlets spread throughout Bangalore, in Ulsoor, Koramangala, Indiranagar and Kamanahalli. Famous for their thick beef burgers, the cafe is a non vegetarian's paradise with very few veggie options in their burger menu.
A must try here includes the Buffalo Bill, which is essentially chicken wings. We opted for the Fiery Buffalo Chicken Wings with Creamy Cheese Dip but the ones with more experience in spicy wings can also try their Bhut Jolokia version. The sauce is really unique and has the fiery zing which hits you on its way back.
Amongst the burgers, Moo's Yo Daddy and the Gonzeshawara are my personal favourites. The burgers are a bit dry, so the need of beverages to gulp them down is quite dire. The Moo's Yo Daddy comes with a signature beef patty inside their sesame bun and is served with fries while the Gonzeshwara has a bacon wrapped fillet steak with the BBQ sauce imparting a sweetish taste. Both burgers are quite big and are extremely filling.
Café 132
Café 132 at Koramangala 3rd block lists Tunisian Eggs as one of their signature dishes. The egg is prepared along with breakfast sausages in a gravy like sauce which has tomatoes, onions, garlic and chillies. This is served with bread, grilled tomatoes, sautéed potatoes and baked beans. We found the gravy spicy but without much taste.
The English Breakfast worked out much better. It had some freshly scrambled eggs with baked beans and toast. The chicken sausage too tasted good, and the bacon lent variation to the breakfast. The breakfast platter comes with grilled tomatoes and sautéed mushrooms as sides. They have other choices for breakfast too such as Pollo Breakfast and Porky Breakfast.
The café is a nice clean place and service is leisurely. It has both outdoor and indoor seating. The staff does not mind if you have work to do on your laptop and occupy the table for a longish period.
